Find Your School Board
A note about this data: Our data comes primarily from BallotReady. For nonpartisan school boards, we match BallotReady officeholder data to the voterfile and pull their party registration information where available. You’ll see that some school board members have more information than others. That can happen for one of two reasons: a) the officeholder didn't match to the voter file (typically because there are too many similar names in a similar geography) or b) the state doesn't require registration by party and therefore it won't be found in the voterfile. Please note, while some school boards are appointed, our data only includes elected school board members.
Regarding Florida school board member data: School Board Spotlight and its research partners reviewed the public statements, social media, and issue positions of Florida’s 356 school board members for mentions of book bans, curriculum censorship, and racist or anti-LGBTQ+ policies. Please note that this research does not encompass all the issues that school board members address in their duties; please consider all actions by a school board member when judging their qualifications overall. Additionally, it is important to acknowledge that some school boards may have felt compelled to consider certain policies due to action or pressure by state-level officials. Our evaluation is based solely on statements made and votes taken by board members, not the motivations or pressures that may have influenced these decisions.
